On a daily basis, my goal is to have a diet filled with antioxidants. Blueberries have always been my go to for antioxidants but based on my research there are a number of spices that are packed with antioxidants with different properties. Here, I will focus on a spice for brain health.
So what are antioxidants? Well, antioxidants are substances found in fruits and vegetables that protect your cells against free radicals which are created when your body breaks down food or from environmental factors such as smoking or exposure to radiation. Antioxidants include Vitamins A, C, and E, lycopene, selenium, lutein, and beta-carotene.
I learned about Turmeric from Dr. Oz. Each day, I have been putting Turmeric power in hot coconut milk (I do not drink milk or soy milk) and it tastes delicious like a Chai tea latte actually. Turmeric is a super spice which is loaded with antioxidants which play a role in brain and heart health, including protection of your liver from alcohol intake. Of course, like anything, antioxidant intake is about consistency, and I look forward to reaping the benefits of taking Turmeric.
I recently read this article about the top ten benefits for skin and hair, and wanted to share it.
